The course went more in depth and challenged me more than I thought it would. I never thought I would switch to BARF but Week 4 convinced me it was the best for cats and gave me the confidence to switch her over. The way the EMS codes are taught really simplifies them and makes them easier to remember. I learned a lot from this course and am looking forward to taking the next one. (R.E.)

I really enjoyed the Campus Felinarium – Ursa Minor course and I am glad that I took it. It is the second course in a row and I already had some information. It made me very happy that I used my knowledge. As a cat breeder, I took away a lot of useful information from it and, most importantly, I sorted out things that I was not completely sure about before.
I appreciate that the course shows people not only the information itself, but also where to look for it, who to ask, discuss, etc., how to work with the loaded knowledge and how to navigate it. The section on pedigrees, lines and origins of cats was a great benefit for me. Learning to read them and, above all, where to look for the health status of cats. The chapters on genetics and color were also interesting to me. Although these are topics that I am still learning about, thanks to the course I am much better informed about them.
I also liked the way the tests and questions were prepared. They are not built on tricks or to catch you. On the contrary, they lead you to connect the dots, remember what you have read, and know where to find the information again. In my opinion, this makes much more sense than looking for tricks.
Overall, I rate the course very positively. It was beneficial for me, understandable, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about cats and better understand breeding and genetics. I am really looking forward to the next one and I really thank the whole team. (L.Z.)

I want to thank you for a rewarding, fun and comprehensive course which for me was a very good basis before buying my first breeding stock. I think that the course had a well-thought-out structure in terms of time in order to be able to work full-time but still manage the tasks and any additions. The area specifically regarding the "paperwork", important documents and approach to buying a cat both via import and when you can visit the breeder I think was particularly interesting. The course also maintained a high level where the course leader was meticulous and left nothing to chance (E.L.)

Der Kurs hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Die Themen sind sehr informativ für Zuchtanfänger. Was ich auch sehr positiv empfand, ist die Berichtigung der Hausaufgaben. Fehler müssen nochmals unter die Lupe genommen werden. Es wird nicht gleich der Lösungsvorschlag gegeben. Somit muss man sich mit den Themen nocheinmal genauer beschäftigen. Das prägt ein und schult.Ich finde es auch gut das die Themen pro Woche immer in übeschaubaren Abschnitten eingeteilt sind und keine superlange Texte enthält. Für mich persönlich war es ab und an sehr schwer, einige englische Wörter und Texte zu übersetzen um diese genauer zu verstehen.Ich hätte in der Schule besser aufpassen sollen.
Ansonsten bin ich sehr zufrieden mit den Kursleitern ,die auf Fragen immer geantwortet haben und sogar telefonisch unterstützt haben um es besser zu erklären.Vielen Dank für eure Bemühungen und eure Geduld. (D.H.)

I found Ursa Minor to be a very comprehensive and informative course. As I am still at the beginning of my journey as a breeder, there was a great amount of new information for me, and I feel that the course gave me a much broader understanding of what responsible breeding actually involves.
I especially appreciated that the course does not focus only on breeding itself. It covers many different and important subjects, such as pedigrees, EMS codes, colours and patterns, cat shows and judging, genetics, hereditary diseases, health programmes and the responsibilities we have when making breeding decisions. Some sections made me realise that there is much more to learn and consider as a breeder than I initially thought.
I also liked the practical exercises. Although some of them were challenging for me, especially in the beginning, they made me go back to the learning material, look for the information myself and understand it better instead of simply reading and moving on.
One possible improvement could be making the navigation of the “Sections as book” area a little clearer for new students. I use Windows 11 on a desktop computer, and I did not initially realise that the “Open block drawer” button contained the list of links to the individual breed sections. The wording of the button did not make this obvious to me. Perhaps an additional screenshot or a short explicit instruction explaining where to find the complete list of breed sections on different Moodle layouts/devices could help future students.
Overall, I think the course contains an impressive amount of information and provides a very good foundation for someone who wants to become a knowledgeable and responsible breeder. For me, it has also shown how important continuous learning is in breeding, and I am very glad that I took this course. (A.C.)

Thank you so much for your hard work and patience. This course has been a wonderful experience, I've learned a lot, a lot of things have been cleared up for me. With my ADHD I've had some issues with focusing for a long period of time at once, so just reading and learning from "Robinson's Genetics for Cat Breeders and Veterinarians" has been difficult. I’ve gained so much from the Ursa Major course! Marion Zimmermann has been incredibly dedicated and thorough when answering our assignments—huge kudos to her! I do have a small suggestion for the course: since most of the students here are breeders, I was wondering if it might be possible to include more introductions and insights specifically tailored to different breeding breeds. I am very satisfied with the course, I have learned a lot! I think that the part about diseases is what has been most interesting and instructive because it often forgotten in cat breeding. I now feel that I have gained even more meat the legs to think about my own breeding, where good genetic health is priority 1. I also think that the part about population and inbreeding was very interesting, it should be more people learn how it works so I will absolutely recommend this course to other breeders! (A.S.)

Da ich erst seit letztes Jahr 2023 in die Katzenzucht eingetreten bin, war mir wichtig, dass ich einen Kurs absolviere wo auch die Gentik dabei ist um mir hier bestmögliches Wissen anzueignen. Den "Grundbasiswissen" habe ich für meine Rasse die ich züchte bereits letztes Jahr von meinen Mentorinnen und Selbstrecherche angeignet. Doch mir war bewusst das hier noch viel Ausbaufähig war. Dies wurde in den 7 Wochen im Kurs Campus Felinaruium Major bestätigt. Mein bisheriges Wissen über die Genetik wurde hier geprüft und geichzeitig neues Wissen erlernt.
Was man hier jedoch noch verbessern könnte wäre, wenn ein Campus Felinarium Absolvent so dermaßen auf der Leitung steht, wie es bei mir bei ein paar Fragestellungen der Fall war, dass man hier die Möglichkeit erhält mittels Videogespräch oder Zoom ergänzende Erklärungen zu erhalten. Denn oft hilft das mehrmailge durchlesen des Kapitels und die "Hilfsfragen" vom Lehrer nicht wen man so richtig ansteht. Ansonsten hat alles gut gepasst und wie oben erwähnt es war wieder sehr lehrreicht. DANKE! (L.C.)

For me it has been an exceptional course. Full of content. Which I will need to review again to finish internalizing it. In the coming months, I would like to review my exercises again and internalize concepts and be able to visit all the links that have appeared throughout the course. For 7 weeks it seemed like a tough course full of concepts. For me it has been so so hard, very very diffcult. Is not a easy course, but I'm so so happy and I will recommend all breeders to do it but my advice to all of them is to take time in those seven weeks, because it is hard and requires a lot of time to read and understand. Working, with family, breeding, is very difficult because it requires time to assimilate concepts and learn. 100% recommended and necessary to be a good breeder. The courses are always well-structured, very interesting, and educational for both breeders and those who simply care for cats. I’ve now completed all three that you offer; I started with Ursa Minor, continued with Ursa Major (which I found to be by far the most difficult course) and have now finished with The Pleiades. I thought everything was very well organised. There was a clear thread running through the whole course. Something I found particularly interesting to read – and which was easy to take on board – was the AlphaCat stories and the case studies, which featured real-life cases that we were told about.

As always, I repeat that I really like the layout of these courses. It is important not only training but also the sharing of "stories, cases and everything that cannot be found in scientific journals as well as the sharing of experiences, both positive and negative.
